    Overview:

StaffBuffalo is working with a growing, boutique logistics and transportation organization in the Buffalo area to hire a Logistics Operations Coordinator, offering a salary of $65,000 - $70,000 with additional commission potential. This role is ideal for an experienced logistics professional who understands container freight, transportation timelines, and the urgency required to move shipments efficiently through ports, rail ramps, and inland networks.

In this position, you will manage shipments from start to finish, coordinating with carriers, customers, and internal teams to ensure freight moves smoothly while meeting strict delivery timelines. The Logistics Operations Coordinator serves as a liaison between customers and transportation providers, negotiating rates, arranging carriers, and closely monitoring shipments to prevent delays and costly storage or detention fees.

You will join a small, high-performing operations team where each coordinator manages their own book of business and takes full ownership of shipments. This environment rewards initiative, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency while offering autonomy, collaboration, and the opportunity to grow your earnings by successfully managing freight volume.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate domestic freight movements by arranging transportation with outside carriers and ensuring shipments move according to delivery timelines
    • Review and enter delivery orders into the transportation management system (TMS) while verifying accuracy of shipment details
    • Track and trace shipments from pickup through delivery, communicating updates to customers and internal teams
    • Negotiate freight rates with customers and carriers while balancing service quality, cost efficiency, and margin goals
    • Build and maintain relationships with transportation providers while sourcing and validating new carriers
    • Resolve shipment issues by coordinating with carriers, customers, and internal operations teams
    • Maintain accurate shipment documentation and records to support billing and operational reporting

    Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in transportation brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics dispatching, or a similar operations role
    • Working knowledge of container freight, rail and port movements, and domestic transportation coordination
    • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail when managing shipment documentation
    • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast paced, deadline driven logistics environment
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills when resolving shipment challenges
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with TMS platforms preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field is a plus

    Benefits:

    • Base salary of $65,000 - $70,000 with commission potential as freight volume increases
    • Opportunity to grow earnings as you manage a larger book of freight and customer relationships
    • Hybrid schedule after training with a mix of in office collaboration and remote flexibility
    • Small, collaborative operations team that values trust, autonomy, and strong work ethic
    • Exposure to complex container, rail, and domestic freight operations
    • Long term growth potential within a stable and expanding logistics organization
    • Supportive team culture with strong communication and shared success
