    Lonestar Electric Supply and its subsidiaries are looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for administering and overseeing the implementation, organization, and troubleshooting of the network, hardware, and underlying communications protocols. The Network Engineer will use their acquired subject knowledge and expertise to support the company’s multi-location technical infrastructure, assist and mentor IT staff members, and provide strategic systems and initiatives to support 700+ users and computers. This is an on-site role with a rapidly growing organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and document computer networks including firewalls, routers, VPNs, and other physical hardware.
    • Install and configure network equipment.
    • Create firewall rules and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected.
    • Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for all systems.
    • Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management.
    • Implement disaster recovery procedures.
    • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience.
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification preferred.
    • Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks.
    • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems, such as LAN, firewalls, routers and printers.
    • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating effectively and efficiently.
    • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
    • Time management skills.
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation.
    • Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology.
    • Occasional overnight domestic travel will be required.

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday
    • On call

    Ability to commute/relocate:

    • Houston, TX 77041: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

    Willingness to travel:

    • 25% (Required)

    Work Location: In person

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.
