    JOB SUMMARY

    Assists with clerical, materials management, patient scheduling, and insurance verification tasks in OP therapy department. Assists with predetermined portions of patient related care, equipment procurement, routine cleaning, and assists PT/OT.ST with patient therapy.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • One year clerical experience
    • CPR certification preferred
    • Proficient patient care skills; typically obtained within three months of on-the-job training
    • Experience in a health care environment (e.g., rehab aide training) strongly preferred
    • Proficient in personal computers and word processing software, facsimile machine, copier, scanner
    • Knowledge of database/spreadsheet applications preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Effective interpersonal skills
    JOB DUTIES
    • Demonstrates the WMH Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *
    • Assists therapists with supportive patient care duties, including transporting patients, preparing treatment space/equipment, preparing patients for treatment, monitoring vitals, and adjusting assistive devices.*
    • Under supervision of therapist, assists with patient treatment, including wound care, application of modalities, bed mobility, therapeutic exercise, ADL training, swallow studies, and transfer/mobility training.
    • Performs equipment retrieval and set-up after departmental orientation and training.
    • Observes patient behavior and performance and provides appropriate feedback to supervising therapist regarding patient care session.*
    • Meticulously enters therapy charges into hospital computer system on a daily basis. Ensures department accuracy of all therapy charges, including weekend coverage as needed at end of month.*
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information.
    • Verifies and problem solves issues regarding insurance, patient appointments, MD scripts, printers, and computer programs *
    • Coordinates setup of evaluation and treatments for outpatient including those needing multidisciplinary treatment. Blocks appointments, meeting, and lunches for therapist via computerized scheduling system
    • Assists with maintaining clean and safe environment for patient care, notifying appropriate personnel re: maintenance or cleaning needs. Monitors department equipment and maintains usage logs/service records as applicable.*
    • Prepares all files for end of month scanning. Completes necessary scanning and labels files with new account numbers. *
    • Maintains appropriate inventory of patient care and office supplies/materials.*
    • Answers phone in professional manner. Serves as a resource person to answer inquiries and provide general information. When necessary directs problems to appropriate source. *
    • Identifies opportunities for process improvement.
    • Ensures safety of patients, caregivers, and co-workers by adherence to health and safety guidelines.*
    • Assists with health / safety compliance and training, including but not limited to FIT testing, orientation to cleaning schedule, safety checks.
