Responsible for assisting Interventional Radiologist during procedures of organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in and observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Requires a degree in Radiology and Licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. (ARRT) l Assist Interventional Radiologist with diagnostic and interventional procedures and services daily, according to protocols established by the Director Obtains films of highest quality under minimal direction and supervision. Responsible for professional performance and decision making in accordance with the clinical, fiscal and organizational objectives of the department and hospital.
Exercised: None. May orient new staff members to the practical procedures of the department.
Received: Reports to Director, Radiology. Receives general supervision from the senior Radiology Technologist, Director, Radiology and the Medical Director of Radiology
JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
Utilizes good communication skills in daily interactions with patients, families, physicians, unit and hospital personnel. May have occasional contact with vendors. Adjusts patient interaction and/or treatment to match each patient’s age-specific developmental, educational, or other related needs.

Physical Environment/Hazards: Corrected 20/20 vision required. Multi-task oriented, as frequent interruptions and fluctuating work flow may occur. Ability to move rapidly, excellent eye/hand coordination is essential. Walking, lifting, standing and moving patients may be required and sometimes in confined and/or noisy environment. Some possibility for needle sticks. Exposed to VDT rays from computers. Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Demonstrates the ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations. Ability to wear lead during lifting, bending and patient procedures.
OSHA Category I: Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
TB Exposure: There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB and the incumbent is required to take TB control training, PPD skin tests and/or health screenings.
