    JOB SUMMARY

    The Athletic Trainer reports to the Director of Sports Medicine and consults with the Medical Director for any Athletic Training related issues. The Athletic Trainer assists in the overall operation and coordination of athletic training services and provides daily clinical supervision of the athletes in their respective partnerships. Conduct the program in a manner that supports and encourages both the hospital and the sports medicine department mission statements.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s Degree required and Master’s Degree preferred

    Current BOC certification and State of Illinois licensure or eligible to obtain

    A minimum of 2 years working experience as an ATC with a variety of diverse AT experience, including football

    Individual must have effective communication skills and the ability to positively interact with student-athletes, athletic training students, parents, coaches, staff, faculty, administrators, physicians, and the medical community.

    Must successfully complete a background check

    CPR/AED certified

    JOB DUTIES

    Assist in the management and operation of individual facility to care for the health care needs of the hospital athletic programs & partnerships.

    Provide athletic training coverage to selected intercollegiate, high school and professional programs as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine; will require travel, evenings and weekends

    Assist in the management of athletic training equipment and supplies

    Serve as an Approved Clinical Instructor when applicable

    Assist with weekly physician clinics

    Assist with rehabilitation programs

    Maintain a comprehensive athletic training medical filing system, keeping records on pre-participation exams, injury reports, referrals, rehabilitation and follow-up care

    Assist with the processing of insurance claims

    Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and provide mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues.
