    Job Description

    LDC is looking for a motivated and self-starter Research Associate - Analytical to join our plant protein business unit R&D group. This R&D team evaluates, purifies, and characterizes novel plant proteins, as well as develops solutions for their application within food systems. The Analytical Research Associate will work with Analytical Scientists in the lab to be responsible for all analytical needs for Plant Protein R&D and Pilot Plant operations. This role will also interface with R&D research lab team, Application team and Engineer team on developing methods for characterization of plant-based food and beverage products.

    Main accountabilities:

    • Perform physical and chemical analysis including but not limited to proximate analysis, protein and starch functionalities, protein purification and composition, flavor compounds and other small molecules, color difference, particle size, bulk density, and texture/rheology/thermal analysis.
    • Help develop analytical methods for characterizing plant protein ingredients.
    • Ensure data integrity and accuracy.
    • Ensure test results are reported in timely manner.
    • Help maintain lab instrument and lab inventory to make the lab run smoothly.
    • Practice LDC’s safety standards always.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Role requirements and Experience:

    • Lab work experience in analytical chemistry, food science, chemistry, nutrition, biology, or related fields is required.
    • Experience with small molecules and protein analysis is preferred.
    • Ability to work independently within defined experimental frame.
    • Problem-solving, time-management and organizational skills.
    • Experience in use of Microsoft suite of products and good knowledge of operating advance instruments
    • Ability to collaborate with others.
    • Ability to pay attention to details.

    Education :

    • B.S. in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, instrumentation science, food science or related fields. with 2+ years of work experience.
