Position Summary : St. Richard’s Episcopal School seeks a dynamic, student-centered Lower Division Teacher to join our faculty. The Lower Division serves students in Grades 1–4 and emphasizes foundational skill development, intellectual curiosity, and the social-emotional growth of each child.
The Lower Division Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive, engaging classroom environment; delivering high-quality instruction across core subject areas; and fostering a love of learning while upholding the mission and values of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
** Instruction & Curriculum**
· Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, engaging instruction in core subject areas, including English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
· Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
· Use a variety of instructional strategies, tools, and assessments to support student growth.
· Collaborate with colleagues and division leadership to implement and refine curriculum.
· Integrate technology thoughtfully to enhance learning.
******Student Support & Classroom Environment**
· Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture that supports student well-being.
· Establish and maintain effective classroom management systems rooted in consistency and care.
· Support students’ social-emotional development alongside academic growth.
· Observe, assess, and document student progress, providing timely feedback.
** Communication & Community Engagement**
· Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
· Prepare progress reports, report cards, and conference materials in a timely manner.
· Partner with families to support student learning and development.
· Participate actively in school events, meetings, and community life.
** Collaboration & Professional Engagement**
· Work collaboratively with faculty, specialists, and administrators to support student success.
· Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities, and school initiatives.
· Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
● A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
● A minimum of three years of lead teaching experience at the elementary level (beyond student teaching).
● Strong understanding of child development and elementary pedagogy.
● Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support a range of learners.
● Experience teaching multiple subject areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies).
● Effective classroom management skills grounded in respect and relationship-building.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
