    The Purchasing Manager/Buyer will be responsible for developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies.  This role will oversee a team of buyers responsible for demand forecasting, supply planning, and execution. The successful candidate must be able to perform strategic procurement activities for a national distribution network across multiple product categories.

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
    • Oversee a team of Buyers with strong leadership; monitor daily workflow, scheduling, performance evaluations, employee development and policy enforcement  
    • Maintain a company average fill rate in excess of 98%
    • Manage inventory levels to satisfy enterprise inventory turn objectives
    • Optimize internal transfer paths and frequency to minimize internal freight cost
    • Assess, manage and mitigate supply risks
    • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
    • Perform cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking
    • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
    • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
    • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
    • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
    • Partner with stakeholders to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions
    • Collaborate with strong partnership with Lowe’s on all integration initiatives

    Assess current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables

    Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment

    Draft, explain, and implement instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management

    Resolve grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers

    Performs other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration, or equivalent work experience
    • 5 + years of proven working experience as a Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer
    • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
    • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
    • A knack for negotiation and networking
    • Strong analytical skills; ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
    • Solid judgement and decision making skills
    • Strong leadership capabilities
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
