    Job Description

    JOB PURPOSE: The 3D earmold design technician is responsible for design and production of 3D printed shells for custom earphone monitors and hearing aids, as well as custom fit earplugs and earmolds.      

    Summary of Essential Job Duties: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    • Perform digital scanning of impressions with incoming orders.
    • Edit digital impression ear scans utilizing 3 Shape modeling software to create custom fit musicians earphones,  hearing aids, earplugs and earmolds.
    • Manage 3D Printing process and associated finishing processes.
    • Post printing processing- finishing/coating 3D printed shells.
    • Mechanical aptitude in performing job duties including periodic maintenance of 3d scanning and printing equipment.
    • Maintain stock levels of raw materials and consumables using a manual or computerized system to ensure all needed equipment and materials are available for 3D printing area.
    • Perform routine maintenance of equipment associated with 3D scanning/printing/finishing processes.
    • Follow technical drawings and sales order instructions accurately
    • Ability to recognize opportunities to improve processes and execute.

    • Experience with 3D design of earmold/hearing aids preferred
    • Strong knowledge of 3 Shape design software.  At least 2 years experience required.
    • Ability to utilize platforming software program (Perfactory, 3D Lightyear or similar) to prepare modeled STL files for printing on resin based 3D SLA printer.
    • Familiarity with Asiga 3D printers preferred
    • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office
    • Attention to Detail – ability to work quickly and accurately, creating precise replicas of technical drawings
    • Nimble Fingers –dexterous and nimble, able to use small tools with great care to perform detailed work
    • Understanding Technical Drawings – ability to follow specific diagrams with certain requirements
    • Hand-eye Coordination – Precision is paramount when soldering or using handheld tools on small components or boards.
    • Quality Service – in delivering superior work product
    • Must be able to effectively read and comprehend procedures and hearing aid specifications.
    • Must be able to effectively prioritize work based on age of order, rush-order schedules and programming/inspecting needs.
    • Problem Solver in determining issues with repair work
    • Customer Oriented – working to fulfill order and meet customer expectations
    • Proficient with soldering.
    • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
    • Ability to work autonomously
    • Proven team player that works across organization in multi-site matrixes environment.
    • Keeps work area clean
    • Additional duties as assigned
