    Latvala Lumber Company has been in the Lumber business since 1980. We serve Grand Rapids, MN and surrounding areas delivering materials in radius up to approximately 100 miles. We take pride in providing high quality Lumber and building Materials and prompt deliveries to various residential and commercial job sites.     We are looking for a candidate who is a highly responsible eager team player who communicates well with coworkers, customers, management, and is someone who takes pride in all aspects of their life. They need to demonstrate a safe and professional track record while operating various forklifts and delivery trucks. We have a wide variety of delivery trucks in our fleet – we strive to keep our trucks as up to date and as well maintained as possible.

    SUMMARY

    The Load Builders “Build” or put together orders based upon if they will be picked up or delivered. If they are to be delivered the load builders will build them in an appropriate manner based upon what truck they will be delivered on so that they can be loaded, secured, and delivered in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The load builders will work hand in hand with the yard lead and with operations on the best way to build the various orders as needed or if there are any questions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Built loads in a safe, efficient, timely, accurate, and strategic manner.

    Maintain a clean and safe warehouse and lumber yard.

    Assist with general maintenance of forklifts, equipment, and buildings.

    Assist customers with loading their purchases in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Time between deliveries or when there are no deliveries)

    Assist in loading delivery trucks to ensure proper load balance and security.

    Perform general maintenance and small repairs on vehicles, forklifts, equipment, and buildings as needed.

    Restock building materials as needed.

    Put away returns as/if needed.

    Receive material by unloading vendor trucks and verifying counts for accuracy

    Move snow in the wintertime using a variety of equipment including shovels, snowblower, and snowplows.

    Assist/Go with a driver on a delivery as/if needed.

    Backup other positions as needed and directed by Management.

    Other tasks as assigned by Management

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

    High School Diploma preferred, but previous work experience will suffice

    Previous experience working with construction materials preferred

    Class D Driver’s License or higher

    Clean Driving Record

    DOT Health card or ability to get within 1 month of employment (Company Provided)

    SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

    Good Customer Service Skills (On job site and in the yard)

    Proficient in reading a pick ticket to build orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner when needed.

    Technological aptitude.

    Able to be certified in operating forklifts – certification will be provided

    Able to adapt on the fly as needed, especially during the busier portion of the building season.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.

    Ability to lift and carry heavy objects more than 50 lbs.

    Ability to adapt between sitting frequently for varying periods of time and hauling materials of different sizes, weights, and fragility as the job demands.
