    PURCHASING AGENT - AEROSPACE

    Our Aerospace organization is seeking a Purchasing Agent

    The Purchasing Agent/Buyer is responsible for material and supply purchases, ensuring that the right items are purchased from the right suppliers, at the right time, at the right price.  The responsibilities also include developing commodity strategies resulting in a benefit the company, as well as, to the supplier.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
    • Works to minimize inventory levels, yet, ensuring enough stock to support production.
    • Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
    • Works with suppliers to get quotes, as needed.
    • Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
    • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
    • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
    • Identifies suppliers and commodities for strategic evaluation.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty, satisfactorily, with or without accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
    • Thorough understanding of engineering change processes, and related documentation as it pertains to procurement.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Thoroughj understanding of purchasing procedures and policies. 
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, or related software.
    • Experience in category management.
    • Experience with sheet metal parts, printed circuit boards and technical aspects, preferred.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field highly preferred.
    • 3-5 years of purchasing experience strongly preferred.
    • Aerospace industry experience a plus
