    Job Description Luth Research seeks a Digital Data Analyst that will serve as a liaison between the business users/research team and the database systems to perform data extraction, analyze and understand the data in data warehouses and obtain and transform business requirements into functional specifications that result in accurate and quality data output as well as ETL and Report program logic while generating improved workflow, user experiences, efficient communication, growth, scalability, increased revenue, and profitability. The Digital Data Analyst will be working in a fast paced and demanding environment and will report directly to the Director of Data Analytics.     ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Extract, analyze, review, and interpret data in existing databases to support projects for maximum data accuracy and reliability to drive client satisfaction, repeated business, increased revenue, and profitability.
    • Aggregate complex data sets into usable, error-free data sets that are easily digestible by internal researchers and clients in order to deliver quality information in a timely fashion improving workflow, efficient communication, and increased revenue.
    • Creates pattern generation techniques for determining repeatable and scalable processes for retrieving new data out of Hadoop and other data systems in order to support new product offerings and improve workflow/efficiency.
    • Flag and resolve data issues to ensure client satisfaction by analyzing/validating the data in our databases and analyst level data collection chains improving quality, accuracy, and effective communication resulting in continued partnerships.
    • Integrate data in different formats (e.g., csv, excel, etc.) into Luth’s postgres SQL and Greenplum database systems with accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in order to support client work/satisfaction, client relations, and increased revenue/profitability.
    • Create effective and logical visualizations (charts, maps, etc.) that are easy to understand/digest using various tools including Tableau, Excel, and other BI interfaces to support client work/satisfaction, continued business, and profitability.
    • Define data quality plans to address data quality issues related to internal and external data sources; work with business users to build business understandings of what makes data “usable” and limit the related inaccuracies and issues in order to deliver quality data in a timely fashion that results in increased accuracy, comprehensibility, profitability, and growth for the organization.
    • Perform data analysis with a deep and comprehensive understanding of Luth’s digital intelligence data collection technology, systems, and customers with a focus on quality, ease of use, and client satisfaction resulting in repeated business, ever-improving reputation/word of mouth, and increasing revenue.
    • Create well-written, clear, concise, and accurate document artifacts including functional specifications, mapping document process diagrams test plans and test scripts for the purposes of data warehouse construction, report development, verification, etc., improving workflow, accuracy, productivity, and efficient communication.
    • Develop and provide superb communication skills in client management, project presentation, company product, service promotion, and team collaboration resulting in improved workflow, communication, and productivity resulting in increased revenue and efficiency.
    • Practice and demonstrate exemplary work ethics and self-motivation in learning and taking on new challenges to support sales for the company and act as a role model to others improving company morale, communication, workflow, and overall productivity.
    • Act as support and a liaison with sales team to provide insight on areas of possible growth and development for clients.
    • Any other tasks and projects as assigned by management.

    Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    • BS Degree or equivalent work-related experience.
    • 2-3 years of experience in IT as a Business Systems Analyst and/or QA Analyst in a data warehouse environment, focusing on Data Quality or producing Insights.
    • Solid understanding of SQL, stored procedures and ad-hoc query development including:
    1. UNION, INTERSECT, EXCEPT clauses
    2. Nested SQL queries
    3. Windowing queries
    4. Pivot queries (crosstab function)
    5. INNER, LEFT, and OUTER JOINs
    6. EXPLAIN and how to interpret query plans to optimize performance
    7. When/why indexes are useful
    8. Data loading and dumping
    9. Understanding of triggers and functions
    • Comprehensive understanding of relational databases and the data in them.
    • Ability to write requirements to extract data from existing databases, develop transformation rules based on business requirements gathered from non-technical people and test them.
    • Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus.
    • Experience with Greenplum Data Warehouse is a plus.
    • Experience using Tableau is a plus.
    • Experience with Hadoop/HDFS is a plus.
    • Experience with SPSS is a plus.
    • Experience with Python is a plus.
    • Experience with Command Line Interfaces, such as Bash is a plus.
    • Understanding of digital media analytics and reporting.
    • Experience with Data Conversions, Data Profiling and Root Cause Analysis.
    • Conceptual understanding of OLTP vs Data Warehousing.
    • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some nights and weekends.
