Job Description

 We are seeking a Sales Estimator to join our team!

This position’s main responsibility is to compute costs by interpreting and analyzing data and communicating these findings with the Sales Manager. This positions analysis of market trends and business costs should in turn improve the functioning of the Company’s Sales Department and help generate new business.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Interpret drawings to evaluate material and labor costs, to propose and check estimates.
• Identify and resolve deviations from the proposal, including scope and specs.
• Write up project updates, and proposals.
• Conduct accurate cost analyses and estimations.
• Prepare preliminary estimates for conceptual projects.
• Assist with direct cost reports.
• Assist with pricing schedules.
• Participate in proposal preparation.
• Assist with pre-approval of estimates.
• Conduct post-project costs analyses.
• Conduct data collection and develop models.
• Work with customer and staff to produce acceptable quotation.
• Act as liaison between customers, engineers, subcontractors, internal production, and sales team.

OTHER DUTIES

• Special Projects as needed.
• Maintain Quotation and Bill of Materials database
• Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by management.
• Create and modify company documents using Microsoft Office products.
• Daily correspondence via e-mail, regular letter writing and phone.
• Perform general clerical duties on a daily basis including but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

EDUCATION

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• College Degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related fields.
• 2-3 years previous experience in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must possess excellent interpersonal relations and written/oral communication skills to communicate with both internal contacts in the organization and external contacts.

• Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.

• Must have excellent reasoning skills.

• Must be detailed oriented.

• Must be a self- starter.

• Must have excellent math skills.

• Bi-lingual preferred but not required

• Well organized, with strong analytical and problem -solving skills.

• Ability to gather, interpret and proactively act on data with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to demonstrate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other software programs as required.   

• Ability to manage time efficiently.

• High sense of urgency with ability to work in a fast-paced team environment anticipating and adjusting to challenges.

• Able to follow directions, manage multiple tasks, and respond to urgent requests in a positive manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position spends approximately 20% of the day in a production floor environment and 80% at a desk working in front of a computer.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend and walk in the course of their normal duties.
• Must have hand and wrist coordination for data entry input.
• Must have good vision for close up computer work (with or without the aid of eyeglasses or contact lenses)
• Must be able to speak and communicate verbally with co-workers, customers, vendors, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

·         Office and warehouse environment.

·         Must be able to work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm with some overtime.
