  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director is a full-time professional staff member in the Division of Academic Affairs and reports to the Director of Career and Professional Development (CaPD). CaPD provides education and services for approximately 3,100 undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business Administration, and the School of Music, as well as alumni from each of these programs. Our team consists of six full-time staff including five professional staff and one administrative specialist. Part-time staff includes students serving as two graduate assistants and seven student employees.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides coaching and advising to students across the three Colleges and Schools.
    • Develops and implements programming to increase students’ awareness of internship opportunities and to facilitate their development of professional skills in preparation for internship experiences.
    • Serves as a resource to employers interested in hiring students for internship positions and conducts employer outreach to increase the number of internship opportunities available.
    • Delivers career advising to students and alumni seeking to explore majors/careers, internship opportunities, and job search support.
    • Supports Stetson’s efforts around certifications, not limited to assisting in the selection of new certifications, partnering with providers, facilitating student experiences, and reporting outcomes.
    • Actively support career events and initiatives such as Internship and Career Expos, Employer Takeovers, and other career programs.
    • Supervises the Coordinator of CaPD.
    • Leads relationships with external software vendors including optimizing platforms/tools and requests for updates/issue maintenance.
    • Delivers presentations and workshops to various constituents about career development and opportunities.
    • In concert with the Director of CaPD, oversee web presence for CaPD, including updates to the website and any changes to the career management system (e.g. simplicity).
    • Partner with Associate Director to lead conversations with employers on building and promoting internship opportunities for students.
    • Provides support to academic departments interested in increasing their students’ participation in internships.
    • Collaborate with department chairs and faculty internship instructors to serve as a resource for best practices in the supervision of students participating in academic internship courses.
    • Collaborates with Registrar, IT, and academic departments on the undergraduate academic internship registration process.
    • Collects and maintains data on students participating in internships and create reports for stakeholders.
    • Implements marketing and social media strategies/content to promote CaPD to internal and external audiences in partnership with the Director of CaPD.
    • Develop, market, and implement engaging programming to facilitate students’ participation in internships and career initiatives.
    • Supervise the social media and marketing student assistant.
    • Administer multiple funds to support students’ participation in internships, including marketing, awarding, and disbursing the funds in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Planning and the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement.
    • Collaborates with the WORLD International Learning Center to provide support for international students participating in internship experiences.
    • Represents the University and CaPD on appropriate university committees at meetings and functions.
    • Performs other position-related duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree and two or more years of experience in people or talent development.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Master’s preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or a closely related field.
    • Professional experience in Higher Education

    Salary Grade : 6
