    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in our Appleton, WI office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare construction plans for civil systems (land development, transportation, municipal, drainage, water and sanitary sewer design), including calculations, drawings and civil specifications

    • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office; serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team

    • Assist the Senior Project Civil Engineer/ Project Manager in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final design and attends meetings with client to coordinate various design activities and is responsible for providing material lists for quotations.

    • Position will assist engineers in civil related design and drafting of roads, mass grading with earthwork quantities, erosion control, drainage studies, and other CAD design and drafting duties.

    • Will assist project managers and engineers with the drafting, design and plan preparation.

    • Design will be primarily in AutoCAD and Civil 3D with emphasis on drafting of roads, mass grading, earthwork takeoffs, erosion control and plan setup. Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers and/or Project Engineers. Some project assignments may include construction observation duties.

    Required Skills

    • Working knowledge/experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D design and drafting as well as plan preparation for land and alternative energy markets
    • Understanding of survey coordinates systems and how they are used to spatially orient CAD drawings
    • High School Diploma and Associate’s Degree
    • 3 to 5 years of experience as an AutoCAD Technician or Designer recently.
    • Ability to apply standard engineering principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, word, excel, notepad, etc.
    • Good communication skills

    Required Experience

     

    • 2-year graduate from a Civil Engineering or Land Surveying program
    • 0-5 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry
    • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with department personnel and office staff; must possess strong oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient with Civil 3D
    • Must be detail oriented and efficient in problem solving
    • Must have interest in land development and site design

     

    FOR PREFERRED CONSIDERATION (NOT REQUIRED):

    • Experience with consulting and a fast-paced, collaborative atmosphere.
    • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Proficiency with suite of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software with understanding of alignments, profiles, corridors, and grading objects.
