    The School of Theatre at Oklahoma City University seeks to fill a number of adjunct faculty positions, teaching courses in the undergraduate BA THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE and BFA ACTING degree programs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The candidate must have previous experience teaching university-level courses in either acting; movement; directing; applied theatre; and/or voice for the actor. A master’s degree in theatre is highly sought after, with preference given to those who hold degrees in theatre performance or pedagogy.

    SCHOOL OF THEATRE AT OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY:

    The School of Theatre at OCU is one of the fastest growing theatre departments in the US, having recently tripled its faculty and quintupled its student population to 200 full-time students.  The School offers a BA in Theatre and Performance, plus two BFA degrees, in Acting and Design and Production.  TheatreOCU presents minimum of 4 main stage productions as well as seven Stage II productions, as well as numerous student directed plays and readings.  In addition to 200 theatre majors, the performing arts at Oklahoma City University include the Wanda L.     ADJUNCT TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

    • Conduct classes
    • Evaluate student learning, skills, and abilities; and maintain records of such evaluations
    • Adhere to all policies within the Oklahoma City University Faculty Handbook
    • Other duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The work requirements for this position include teaching during daytime and some evening hours depending upon the needs of the department and its students.  All classes are held on the OCU campus.

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

     

    • Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment
    • Maintains OSHA recordkeeping logs and filing system for all the safety-related records/documents
    • Act as a liaison between field operations, corporate office, and Safety Management.
    • Conduct job-site tours and inspections
    • Monitors PPE equipment to maintain the adequate supply needed for the project
    • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments, procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors
    • Participate in both customer and TBI safety meetings.
    • Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future
    • Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance
    • Develop and maintain hygiene programs such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, and asbestos management plans
    • Collaborate with engineers and physicians to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
    • Provide new-employee safety and field orientations, and develop materials for these presentations
    • Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis
    • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.  Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc.
    • Required to complete safety training including but not limited to New Hire Orientation, OSHA 10 training, Pulmonary Fit Testing, and Drug Testing.
    • Continuous education and knowledge of industry or safety regulations.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

                                                          

    • Five (5) years of experience in a safety role and working knowledge of engineering management and civil construction site safety, with a preference for tunneling experience, including applicable training and certifications.
    • Trained in accident prevention and certified as a First Responder in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation First Responder National Standard Curriculum. 
    • Certified as a Construction Health and Safety Technician by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
    • Proficient in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

     

    THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL DEMANDS ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB OF TUNNEL OPERATOR:

    • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting, standing, or lying down
    • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to the exact position
    • Occasional bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, kneeling
    • Occasional climbing of ladders
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level
