    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Wetland Biologist to join our team in our Denver, CO office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. The successful candidate’s primary role will be to provide field services to delineate wetlands, prepare reports and support regulatory approvals for land development and renewable energy projects. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients and is the leading wetland delineation provider in the region.   In addition to this primary wetland delineator role, the preferred candidate will have experience with property transfer due diligence including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.  

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform initial site research such as air-photo review, water resource mapping and soils research
    • Conduct routine wetland field delineations
    • Report preparation
    • Coordinate and participate in regulatory approval meetings
    • Monitoring approval status on multiple projects
    • Prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
    • Conduct wildlife habitat assessments and prepare environmental assessment reports

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Degree in environmental science, biology or related natural sciences field with 1-3  years of wetland delineation experience
    • Technical proficiency in wetland delineation and an understanding of state and federal regulation
    • Familiar with US Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation manual regional supplements and the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act
    • Proficient with regional plant identification
    • Ability to secure a professional wetland scientist and/or the Minnesota certified wetland delineator registration within one year is desired
    • Experience with GPS equipment
    • Proficient at technical report preparation and writing
    • Willingness to work outdoors for long periods in varying weather conditions

    FOR PREFERRED CONSIDERATION (NOT REQUIRED): 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in  in environmental science, soil science, biology, botany, or related natural sciences field
    • Experience with tree identification
    • Experience with avian surveys including identification by sight and sound
    • Proficiency with and ArcGIS
