Bilingual (Spanish/English) HR/Payroll Assistant
Job Description
M.J. Sheridan of Texas INC. is looking to add an HR and Payroll assistant to its team. The HR & Payroll Assistant will assists with management of the company’s human resources and payroll functions. This position is responsible for important functions such as payroll duties, new employee orientations, maintaining employee records, and assisting the Human Resources Manager in all aspects of Human Resources.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review all crew timesheets by to ensure appropriate crew and equipment changes have been made
Print timesheets daily by Foreman and sort into office mailboxes
Distribute field completed timesheets to appropriate Supervisors
Gather all crew, shop and office non-exempt manual timesheets from Supervisors daily that have have been reviewed for accuracy
Liason with constuction staff to obtain missing timesheet content
Verify that hours, crew members and equipment is listed in proper order
Troubleshoot missing information needed for time entry
Key time and job information into the electronic payroll time reporting system
Run reports and check individual employee hours and research high, low, and missing hours by day
Consolidate payroll time reporting for crews thru payroll system
Check and eliminate processing errors
Print direct deposit and live payroll checks and stuff into envelopes
Input Garnishment and other deductions
Meet with new hires, conduct pre-hire screening, on-boarding meeting and all new hire paperwork
Create new employee folders
Pull MVR reports as needed
Perform in-house DOT drug testing and coordinate with Pipeline Consortium
Input new hire information into accounting and HR systems
Coordinate quarterly random drug testing
Serve as first line of communication with field employees regarding any HR/payroll related questions or concerns and coordinate as necessary with appropriate office personnel
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Exercises judgment and initiative in interpreting company policy and guidelines for payroll processing.
Exercises strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and present solutions.
Detail oriented professional with strong organizational and listening skills.
Ability to deal with people tactfully, respectfully and effectively.
Performs and supports other related functions as required and assigned
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills BILINGUAL IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH REQUIRED.

Experience in a construction environment is a plus but not required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma with some secondary or schooling preferred or equivalent experience.
2 - 5 years prior payroll and human resource experience.
Must have or be able to achieve certification for DOT drug testing collection and compliance
