PURPOSE: The Vice President of Operations will be a senior strategic leader within the M&R Hotel Management executive team tasked to create best-in-class operations and an award-winning portfolio. He or she will be responsible for leading a team across all operations of the hotel business and will be responsible for complete management of the hotel portfolio across all facets of hotel operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, direct and support on-property leadership teams to drive day-to-day operations to ensure sustained revenue and profit growth, market share performance, operational excellence and optimizing guest satisfaction.
- Ensure the development of the annual strategic plan, objectives and budget for each property and improve EBITDA at assigned properties
- Oversee and mentor General Managers in collaboration with teams in Sales, Revenue Management, Finance, Human Resources, Engineering, Food & Beverage and Rooms
- Help drive the growth and efficiency of the M&R portfolio to be known as a best-in-class operator as they strive to become a leading 3rd Party Management company.
- Ensure that all hotels maintain the highest Quality Assurance and GSS scores.
- Continuously review individual hotel’s performances to analyze results and implements improvement where appropriate. Work in conjunction with the General Managers to actively manage key property issues
- Oversee and mentor General Managers to achieve operational excellence in every hotel department to deliver exceptional guest experience
- Motivate teammates and associates to establish M&R’s service-oriented culture and guest satisfaction while overseeing the daily operations of all hotels.
- Hire, supervise, train and if necessary, and approved - discharge personnel. To assist in determination and interpretation of labor policies including compensation and management of labor relations.
- Ensure adherence to operating policy, standards of operation, quality of service, maintenance and physical condition and appearance of each hotel and any other matters affecting operations and standards.
- Analyze data and industry trends to work with hotel teams to create improved offerings, processes, and procedures to generate higher performance and guest satisfaction
- Coordinate with Regional Director of Revenue leaders to oversee the execution of all revenue generating programs, revenue management and sales programs contemplated by the annual operating budget.
- Determine and recommend to Head Office all terms for admittance to and charges for rooms, commercial space and other amenities and services provided in respect to each hotel.
- Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the competition and finds opportunities for the hotel to exceed the competition.
- Actively participate in operations and senior staff meetings at the corporate office. Brief corporate colleagues on the performance of assigned properties, the property leaders and noteworthy issues in the assigned areas of responsibility
- Will be the liaison to each brand (IHG, Marriott, Hilton etc.) and in charge of ensuring each hotel is meeting brand standards of operations, customer service, revenue etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-10 Years Multi-Property leadership experience within branded hotels with IHG, Marriott and/or Hilton brand experience (multi-brand experience is preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management or related field preferred
- Hotel operations experience in the NYC market highly preferred.
- P&L and ROI Management experience is required.
- Direct experience managing teams in multiple locations.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong, demonstrable business and technical writing skills, including ability to draft or contribute to reports, investment memoranda, presentations, etc.
- Thorough, well-rounded knowledge of lodging industry, including trends, such as evolution of brands.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, evidenced by successfully building, motivating, and managing high performance teams and by effectively working as a partner with other executives and stakeholders with strong, demonstrable oral communication skills, including the ability to present to internal and external audiences on technical aspects.
- Reputation as a team player with a strong work ethic, integrity, candor, and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for driving issues to resolutions.
