M2 Engineering LLC is an established, growing structural engineering firm working in Chicago.  M2E work closely with architects, owners, contractors and other disciplines to provide new construction, rehabilitation/renovation, structural assessment and investigation project types in a variety of industry areas..  Projects include new construction, renovation of existing buildings, structural alterations for interior build-outs, structural inspections and assessment reports.

Job Description:

M2E is seeking a staff structural engineer with 1-3 years of experience. 

Responsibilities include:

·         Preparation of construction drawings, documents, reports and calculations.  

·         Assist the senior engineer to perform structural analysis and design.

·         Preform construction administration responsibilities and field work alongside structural engineer of record.

·         Working closely with architectural firms as primary client.

Requirements:

·         Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university program (Masters degree preferred)

·         Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience.

·         Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting with the ability to set up plans and detail sheets, incorporate markups, and manage project structural drawings.

·         Experience in steel and concrete design, with wood and masonry design a plus.

·         Familiarity with mixed use development and existing structures a plus.

·         Working knowledge of various engineering software such Risa 3D, Tekla Tedds, RAM, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

·         Willingness to engage in a variety of projects and tasks, and to learn new skills on active projects

·         Good communications skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·         Desire to approach design from a holistic and multi-disciplinary mindset
