    AET is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to work for a Government client based out of Washington, D.C. The Lead Systems Engineer/Information Engineer provides technical leadership and oversight for the design, integration, and optimization of the IRS M365 environment. This role ensures seamless execution of multi-project M365 initiatives—including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, AvePoint, Power Platform, and Microsoft Copilot—while supporting the Contractor’s overall management and governance approach.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead end-to-end engineering efforts across all M365 platforms, ensuring alignment with IRS enterprise objectives.

    Plan, design, and implement system enhancements, integrations, and configurations following approved architectures.

    Support the Contractor’s structured methodology for communication, performance tracking, and technical reporting.

    Oversee concurrent engineering tasks, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with contractual requirements.

    Provide SME-level guidance on system performance, capacity planning, and scalability across the IRS M365 environment.

    Collaborate with governance leads to ensure engineering activities meet standards for accountability and transparency.

    Support continuous improvement through solution optimization, automation, and proactive issue identification.

    Qualifications:

    Obtain a Public Trust Clearance

    Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft 365 Cloud Suite in large corporate or federal environments.

    Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

    Extensive experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate).

    Strong .NET development skills (C#, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

    Advanced PowerShell scripting proficiency.

    Deep knowledge of Exchange Online, Intune, Azure AD, and broader Azure ecosystem.

    Demonstrated experience with SharePoint Administration, M365 development, and PowerApps model-driven apps.

    Ability to manage permissions, retention, compliance, DLP, and other enterprise governance controls

    Experience with Copilot AI features for Power Platform and AI Builder.
