Job Summary

We are looking to hire a hard-working Custodian/Grounds/Maintenance person who can care for and maintain the overall appearance, cleanliness and safety of our apartments & buildings located in Randallstown and Pikesville. You’ll be responsible for upkeep of parking areas, grounds, common areas, emptying exterior trash cans, community hall (mop/ scrub floor & restrooms as needed). In addition to daily tasks, duties may include minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, putting up caution signs in hazardous weather, meet vendors, help Tenants, assist with apartment turnovers and other tasks as assigned. This person must be flexible and willing to assist us all with unexpected emergencies or accidents. Therefore, the ideal person for this position has a great work ethic, experience with landscaping & cleaning equipment and supplies, is a team player and takes pride in a job well done.

Responsibilities

Daily duties:

Open & securely lock up doors to Office Building. Check all grounds and parking area; Pick up debris, trash, empty exterior trash cans. Report any issues or hazardous found during daily walk-abouts. Keep gutters clear; Keep Roofs of low-rise buildings clear of debris. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the apartment, buildings and grounds. Re-stock restrooms supplies.

Perform minor repairs as needed ( EX. change light bulbs, paint, etc.)

Learn to read & record pressure and temperature gauges on Roof-top System.

Seasonal: in autumn, Leaf pick up; In winter, snow removal and salt walkways, Perform Snow removal and spread ice melt as needed in winter.

As Needed (examples)

Report repair problems.

Place signs for Building Tenants & Visitors in case of construction projects or hazardous events.

Meet Vendors on property.

Help Tenants if possible.

Qualifications

Educational requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent

Experience: At least 2 years of experience in custodial and/or janitorial services

Transportation: Must have Driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from the worksite

Experience with a variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment

Excellent stamina and physical health so can walk property & walk up & down stairs (6 flights) daily.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to climb ladders.

Must be a hard worker with attention to detail and have a strong work ethic.

Must have good communication skills (verbal and written)
