    MATAX is looking for weirdly wonderful technology wizards with non-profit accounting acumen who are interested in empowering non-profit organizations and the small business economy. Future team members love working with multiple clients, learning their businesses to optimize their accounting and back-office workflow.

    Responsibilities:

    Successful Candidate will be responsible for:

    • Learning and implementing cutting-edge technology tools quickly.
    • Monitoring and keeping in sync various integrations with clients' Xero file(s)
    • Providing detailed accounting support to 10+ client accounts
    • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
    • Completing client-specific data projects.
    • Analyze transactions for assigned accounts and identify discrepancies.
    • Maintain and update financial records, including income, expenses, donations, and grants.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for grantors and regulatory authorities.
    • Assist in monitoring grant budgets.
    • Generate invoices for contracts and grants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Collaborating with the team to ensure all clients' expectations are exceeded.
    • Effectively communicating promptly to ensure prompt delivery of deadlines and deliverables.
    • Internal projects, as requested.

    Qualifications:

    To be considered, candidates will need the following experience and attributes:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a Related Field
    • Two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
    • Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
    • Tech-savvy, capable of mastering new software quickly and easily
    • Strong interpersonal skills: an outgoing, positive, energetic person with a can-do attitude
    • Ability to deal with demanding clients with constantly shifting priorities.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive data and information.
    • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong personal initiative and ownership of work product
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented while handling multiple deadlines.
    • Consistently and accurately follow established policies and procedures.
    • Work independently to complete assignments while knowing when to escalate issues and ask questions.
    • Willingness to tackle unfamiliar tasks.

    This is a 100% remote position.
