    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Performs problem analysis to provide appropriate and timely corrective action when agency user operations are adversely impacted by application system’s malfunction or error.
    2. Reviews error codes generated by the application system to determine the appropriate course of action for correction.
    3. Assists technical programmer analysts in the design, development and testing of application system corrections or enhancements by analyzing modifications recommended, determining system impact, and estimating effort and resources required to perform modification.
    4. Document functional requirements for new and existing processes as necessary.
    5. Create test scripts and support the testing as necessary. *Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. Preferred Education: A Master's Degree is preferred. A Master’s Degree in information technology is preferred. Applicable IT certifications will also be considered. *General Experience: Must have eight (8) years of progressive working experience as a computer specialist or a computer systems analyst. *Specialized Experience and Qualifications:
    6. Knowledge of the functions and uses of mainframe or cloud-based application systems.
    7. Knowledge of the functions and capabilities of automated business systems.
    8. Knowledge of the functions and capabilities of computer systems and peripheral equipment as related to the functionality of applications.
    9. Knowledge of the principles and practices of training users of automated application systems.
    10. Skill in providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or Statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or cloud-based platforms.
    11. Skill in creating, reviewing and updating application documentation and training materials.
    12. Skill in conducting classroom and one-on-one training on the functionality of complex computer applications.
    13. Skill in using mainframe and PC-based software for problem diagnosis, analysis, correction and end user training on the functionality of applications.
    14. Skill in applying inductive and deductive reasoning to reach logical solutions to complex application system problems.
    15. MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs – Smartsheet. Preferred Experience and Qualifications: Knowledge and use of State or Public type accounting applications e.g. R*STARS. Knowledge of ad-hoc reporting application, e.g. FOCUS Knowledge of mainframe utilities – TSO, File-Aid. Knowledge of e-procurement applications – e.g. iValua.
