PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT
SUMMARY:
EXPAND YOUR PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO AS A PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT IN WAKE FOREST, NC. As the Payroll Accountant, you will ensure that people are paid correctly and on time. You will also perform all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports, and preparing special reports for management.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
- 2+ years’ of experience in accounting or finance
- 2+ years of experience of payroll experience
- 3+ years of previous management experience
- Payroll processing experience with multiple company and multi-state
- Experience with:
- Processing payroll using a third-party payroll provider system, such as Paylocity or ADP
- Prevailing wage and preparing certified payroll reports (preferred)
- International payrolls (preferred)
- Solid general accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
- Highly proficient in MS Excel
- ERP and business software experience; knowledge of IFS (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
- Excellent problem solving/judgment skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong organizational skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, analyze, and implement payroll transactions in a timely manner such as payments of hours worked, personal time off, employee benefits, application of benefit deductions, etc.
- Evaluate payroll data for accuracy and trends, including prevailing wage requirements and state compliance
- Prepare ledger journal entries for payroll and other accruals and recurring and ad hoc transactions
- Reconcile and analyze assigned balance sheet and related expense accounts
- Document, test and support the implementation of processes to ensure payroll and accounting are working efficiently and in compliance with company policies and objectives
- Maintain and provide supporting documentation for agency, financial, and internal control audits
- Design, evaluate and implement appropriate payroll procedures and processes while assessing the need for systematic enhancements in order to increase payroll efficiency
- Calculation of commission and bonus payments and supporting accruals
- Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Coordinate between payroll and human resources, to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data
- Other duties as assigned
