    The Dog Foster Coordinator (DFC) works closely with the Dog Shelter Manager and Medical Staff, to place dogs, puppies, and pregnant dogs into foster homes.

    The Foster Program Job Duties:

    Placing Dags into Foster Homes:

    Process applications received at the Shelter through email and in person.

    Once the application is approved, coordinate with volunteers to schedule and conduct a home visit.

    Schedule appointments for potential fosters to meet eligible foster candidates

    Update medical files with the medical foster discharge instructions and ensure that the foster understands the medical expectations for their foster.

    Keep all information for Fosters up-to-date and filed appropriately

    Answer emails and messages within 24 hours after receiving

    Keep Pet Management and medical software up to date

    Responsible for taking calls from fosters during working hours.

    Forward information on potential adopters to the Foster.

    Follow-up to make sure appointments for meet and greets are being scheduled and to see how the meet and greet went.

    Contact fosters once per month and note contact information in the foster tracking spreadsheet

    Medical:

    Work with medical staff to create an eligible Foster list.

    Maintain spreadsheet for Special Food and Meds for each foster

    Schedule Fosters to pick up food and meds to ensure consistent medical care

    Schedule appointments for rechecks

    Follow-up on any medical issues with Fosters

    Track dogs with medical issues that the fosters are responsible for maintaining and contact these fosters on a regular basis to ensure consistent medical care and to offer assistance as needed.
