    Position Title: Mechanical System Designer

    Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

    Location: Charlotte or Raleigh, NC

    This position is based in either Charlotte or Raleigh, NC , with frequent collaboration with our established engineering group in Charlotte. The role involves active participation in a wide range of engineering services including technical performance, training, system selection and evaluation, LEED performance, airside and hydronic design, equipment and control applications, energy modeling, and specification writing. This position reports to the Engineer-Of-Record.

    Essential Duties

    Project Design:

    • Lead the overall design and establish criteria for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems in buildings.
    • Generate construction shop drawings utilizing Autodesk software.
    • Identify value engineering opportunities in existing designs.
    • Perform load calculations and select appropriate equipment.
    • Design air, hydronic, and industrial ventilation systems.
    • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and safety standards.
    • Manage LEED performance reviews and submissions.
    • Support commissioning processes, conceptual control sequences, and code compliance of projects.

    Project Management:

    • Coordinate across disciplines to support engineering, construction, service, and controls staff.
    • Develop and oversee projects from design to construction documentation as assigned by Project Managers, according to project schedules and requirements.
    • Liaise with service and controls teams to identify and resolve issues, ensuring customer requirements are met.
    • Manage distribution of models, details, and documentation.
    • Review project objectives with the engineering management team, attend meetings, and coordinate resources to meet project timelines.
    • Explore new technical developments for potential implementation.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Education : Bachelor's degree in mechanical curriculum from an accredited program.
    • Professional Experience : * Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, or fire protection design. * Minimum 2 years of contracting or project management experience.
    • Technical Skills : * Proficiency in BIM Modeling, energy modeling, and various design calculations. * Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and manufacturer-specific design tools. * Strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively. * Experience in preparation of detailed drawings. * OSHA 10 Certification. * Thorough knowledge of Building Codes.

    Compensation

    Salary ; Compensation is based on experience and education, with a typical range of $75,000 to $95,000.

    Annual Bonus: An annual bonus is awarded based on performance.
