DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs (APFA) reports to the Provost and directly assists and advises the Provost in carrying out responsibilities relative to faculty roles and responsibilities. Specifically, the APFA facilitates and manages the faculty evaluation processes of the University and oversees the mission and work of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CTLA). Additionally, the APFA works collaboratively with faculty governance to ensure fair and equitable policies around the hiring, retention, advancement, and leadership development of faculty. This position closely collaborates with Deans, Chairs, faculty, and other academic leaders to ensure faculty thrive as teachers, scholars, leaders, and colleagues in a stimulating and inclusive academic environment. The position also has responsibility for collaborating with the Senior Associate Provost of Operations and Strategic Planning on actualizing the Academic Affairs portion of the university strategic plan.

The successful candidate will be an experienced academic leader who has held progressively responsible administrative roles in an academic setting. They will have demonstrated a record of ethical, fair, and innovative leadership, with excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills, as well as a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion and respect for shared governance. Required credentials are an earned terminal degree in the candidate’s field, with a strong record of scholarship and teaching. The successful candidate demonstrates a vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University.
