    Assist the Sports Information office with all functions of media operations at Azusa Pacific Athletics events.  

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Three - five years of experience in media operations.

     

    PRIMARY DUTIES

    • Will contribute to media operations for the home events of Azusa Pacific Athletics teams, including duties for public address, statistical compilation, game clocks, and broadcast play-by-play.
    • Public address announcer will inform fans and participants of sporting events with announcements of public safety, game progress, player participation, and any other messages as requested by the Sports Information Director or Assistant Sports Information Director.
    • Statistical compilation will record accurate official game statistics using official stat forms and computer software provided by the Sports Information Director or Assistant Sports Information Director.
    • Game clock operators will keep the official clock and comply with all timing regulations for that particular sport.  In football and basketball, there will be two clock operators: one individual will operate the scoreboard and game timing, and another individual will operate the play clock or shot clock timer.
    • Broadcasting play-by-play commentator will provide an audio commentary that will accompany Azusa Pacific’s video feed for the Athletics live video streaming service.

    • Broad observation on fields/courts of play, see objects moving quickly.

     

      ENVIRONMENT

    • Environmental demands include, but are not limited to climate-controlled indoor environment and potential exposure to outdoor elements including sun, wind, and temperature.

     

    TECHNOLOGIES

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel, and StatCrew statistical software.

     

    COMPENSATION

    • Grade 3: $14.00-$17.30/hourly
    • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • 25 Years of experience in the Navy or supporting US Navy surface ships. 
    • Experience as an Inspector for the U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV); experience as an inspector at the Afloat Training Group or other fleet activity focusing on Pre-INSURV preparations for fleet unit is an acceptable substitute for experience as an INSURV inspector.
    • Team Leads should have experience as a former Commanding Officer of a surface Navy ship.
    • Assist in the implementation of a Navy end-to-end Condition Based Maintenance program.
    • Instruct ship’s crews on the INSURV evaluation criteria with a particular focus on how weighting is applied within different inspection areas and how INSURV scores each event.
    • Pre-screen, conduct INSURV Card Screening Conferences, and track Action Items.
    • Perform INSURV Technical Information Paper (TIP) reviews against previous INSURV discrepancies to identify applicable hulls and associated NAVSEA action items (Quarterly).
    • Provide support to Readiness Managers as required for INSURV related actions.
    • Provide detailed guidance to ship’s leadership and crew regarding its preparedness for an INSURV examination. This includes: developing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms); providing coordination and assistance in the conduct of material checks; providing assistance in prioritizing and completing repairs; expediting changes to the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and Operational Sequencing System (OSS); liaising with the Board of Inspection and Survey; and providing SME support to Immediate Superiors In Command (ISICs) and Type Commanders (TYCOMs) during pre-INSURV assessments and inspections.
    • Collect data in support of the inspection and generate all post-inspection reports, share lessons learned from recent waterfront experiences for continuous process improvement and participate in post-inspection “HOTWASH” events to capture lessons learned and process issues in order to improve combat readiness.
