Position Summary:
As a MEDITECH Expanse Command Center Analyst – LAB, you will assist in the implementation and support of MEDITECH Expanse Laboratory (LAB) applications. This position is responsible for ensuring that existing and new clinical/technical product and clinical/technical standard solutions technically and strategically align with HCA’s Expanse strategy and that product, content, and workflow issues are addressed in a collaborative and timely manner.
Travel & Go-Live Expectations:
Periodic travel required during Expanse go-live events (typically 4–5 events per year). This role supports the HCA Command Center during each facility go-live event and requires periodic travel tied specifically to the implementation timelines. While the position is primarily remote, team members are expected to travel to Nashville, TN during the initial phase of Expanse go-live events, which occur several times throughout the year.
Key expectations include:
- Go-Live Travel: Team members are required to travel to Nashville for the first week (Thursday – Tuesday) of each Expanse go-live event to support Command Center operations and collaborate closely with clinical, technical and operational teams.
- Go-Live Frequency: Approximately 4–5 go-live events per year, with each event lasting an average of 2–3 weeks.
- Travel Duration: While go-live events span multiple weeks, on-site presence is expected during the initial week, with flexibility afterward depending on operational needs. Team members may return home and support the Command Center remotely for the remainder of the go-live when appropriate and approved ahead of time.
- Schedule Flexibility: During active go-live periods, the Command Center operates 24/7, and team members may work varying shifts to support escalated issues and ensure continuous coverage.
- Between Go-Lives: Outside of go-live periods, the role is fully remote, typically working standard business hours while supporting activities such as (but not limited to) post-go-live optimization, system support and preparation for upcoming implementations.

Responsibilities:
- Provides hands-on technical leadership for the analysis, implementation, and support of MEDITECH Expanse LAB application workflows, build, and standards
- Provides command center leadership and support for the resolution of Expanse application, content, and workflow issues, with a focus on laboratory operations and end-user support
- Utilize Service Central for ticket management to include end user contact, triaging, escalation, and resolution.
- Act as point contact for LAB product support while on shift during go-lives to resolve issues
- Collaborate with product analysts from other product teams to assist in the resolution of issues for facility end users.
- Works independently and with key project team members to define requirements, design the functional solution, identify and resolve issues, and ensure the EHR solution meets requirements and meets business objectives.
- Collaborate with business owners and the facilities to define requirements and solutions.
- Analyze business requirements to design, architect, develop and implement highly efficient, highly scalable solutions.
- Builds positive relationships with business operations, ITG leadership, and vendors.
- Provide routine support and maintenance for current production applications as assigned.
- Support laboratory-related workflows including order entry, specimen collection, resulting, workflow troubleshooting, and downstream operational impacts within Expanse.
- Partner with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve LAB issues impacting patient care, workflow efficiency, and go-live stabilization.
- Provides subject matter expertise and leadership through exemplifying and fostering excellent technical skills.
- Address and provide operational support as needed and on-call responsibilities.
- Participate in command center and go-live support activities for new facility activations, optimization efforts, and post-implementation stabilization related to LAB workflows.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of related experience supporting MEDITECH Expanse LAB application
- Strong functional and/or build experience within MEDITECH Expanse LAB module(s) preferred.
- Expert with MEDITECH Expanse, preferably with specialization in LAB and familiarity with related upstream/downstream clinical workflows
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and issues, organize work, and adjust priorities as needed.
- Able to establish and meet delivery dates.
- Strong analytical and technical skills with ability to analyze issues, assess technical risks, and recommend sound solutions in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in working with and conveying complex subject matter across functional teams.
- Strong problem and issue resolution experience and ability to create quality deliverables.
- Build strong relationships with business owners, vendors, clinical teams and other technical teams within and outside of department.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team on complex projects.
- Adeptness to learn new assignments, technologies and applications quickly and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of laboratory operations, clinical workflows, and issue prioritization in a 24x7 support environment preferred.
- During go-lives only, includes a schedule that has shifts occurring after normal business hours (evenings, nights, weekends and holidays) and on-call support as required. Shifts are scheduled to cover a 24 hour/7 day a week support model.
- Staff must remain flexible and available to help with any/all disaster or emergency situations.
