Job Description
MEIKO USA is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team in our LaVergne, TN facility. The responsibilities of this position are:
1. Ensures the timely ordering and delivery of all parts and materials for the facility (MEIKO US) and external groups.
2. Orders Service Parts and Production parts from MEIKO Germany (80% of materials are ordered from our parent company) and local sources.
3. Orders department supplies for Production, Service, Marketing, Training, Parts Center, Engineering and other areas as requested.
4. Enters all orders into Abas ERP system (prepares PO’s, solicits bids and reviews requisitions before entry)
5. Monitors and expedites all incoming purchases to maintain the highest level of customer service. Coordinates frequently with Sales, Service and Production to ensure the everchanging needs of their departments are met. Provides purchasing updates for service and project meetings.
6. Promptly notifies management of supply issues that may affect our ability to meet our customers’ needs (various shipping delays, parts shortages, credit holds, etc.) and seek appropriate action/advisement if required.
7. Works with Service Department to support expediting needs for service parts.
8. Coordinates with Engineering and Service to enter new parts numbers and purchasing requirements into system.
Knowledge and Skills Base:
1. 2 years of purchasing experience.
2. Proficient with MS Programs to include Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
3. Technical mindset to discuss topics like voltage, materials specs, plumbing/piping dimensions, hand tools, cleaning supplies, lumber for pallet assembly, MRO supplies, etc.
4. High comfort level in talking with customers and suppliers on a regular basis.
5. Communicate quickly, effectively and professionally.
6. ERP focused, with goal of decreasing the dependency of paper trails.
7. Adds value by reducing costs and negotiating prices.
Purchasing Attention:
1. Daily system suggestions: Approximately 30-35 parts/day are suggested by Abas for purchasing. Review process includes studying purchasing history and adjusting the trigger/order quantity as needed. Not all parts recommended by the system require a change. Focus is to order parts considering a turns-ratio of 4, with the exception of high-priced parts or very low-priced parts. Meetings with German colleagues about purchasing are monthly.
2. Processing air shipments weekly: In an effort to provide great customer service to our existing customers, it’s typical to order parts by air from Germany weekly.
3. Processing replacement machine orders from Germany weekly: We order machines weekly from our parent company in Germany to replace the units we shipped the previous week.
4. Local purchasing of parts: About 20% of all purchasing efforts are focused on local procurement. Items that fall into this category could be tools, chemicals, PPE, training materials, parts, paper, toiletries, etc.
The position can be a hybrid role where an individual will work from our facility 3 days/week. Training will be provided by the current purchasing specialist for a period of 4 weeks. During this period, attendance will be required at our facility 5 days/week.

The salary range provided is firm and the top level of the range is reserved for highly qualified candidates.
