    JOB SUMMARY

    As the Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and technical accounting duties to ensure accuracy and efficiency of the A/R Department.  This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to start their career in the accounting world.  This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, accurate in their work, and has a strong desire to build their accounting acumen.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in the management of the daily A/R functions.
    • Proactively assist in meeting our contractual obligations in relation to billings, job costs and managing accounts receivables.
    • Set up jobs and related contracts in accounting software.
    • Assist the Project Managers with job related documentation.
    • Assist with the tracking of change orders and customer contracts.
    • Communicate with management on the status of all receivables, approved, aging and unapproved.
    • Perform collection calls on open accounts receivable as needed.
    • Review job billings for accuracy.
    • Assist in process of accounts receivable with tasks such as reconciling, preparing and processing of invoices.
    • Maintain accounts receivable, collections and unbilled in accordance with accounting procedures.
    • Develop and maintain strong customer relations.
    • Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards.
    • Knowledge of office equipment, materials and supplies used in an office.
    • Strong mathematical skills – knowing the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
    • Active listening and speaking skills – giving full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
    • Service orientation skills – always looking for ways to help people.
    • Critical thinking skills – using logic to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Reading comprehension and writing skills – understanding written sentences and communicate effectively in writing.
    • Superior organizational skills.
    • Ability to spot numerical errors.
    • Ability to use computers and computer systems, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
    • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without being distracted.
    • Required: 1 year of verifiable experience that demonstrates the ability to learn and perform the position
    • Desired: 2 years of verifiable accounting experience
    • Experience with accounting software

    EDUCATION

    • Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Desired: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
