MI Healthy Climate Fellows:
Join the MI Healthy Climate Fellows (MHC Fellows) and make a lasting impact on Michigan's carbon-neutral future! The MHC Fellows program accelerates Michigan's climate action through capacity building and leadership development. Fellows serve across the state to advance the MI Healthy Climate Plan's (MHCP) goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The plan, unveiled by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in April 2022, aims to avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis; create good-paying jobs; position Michigan as a climate action leader; and build a healthier and more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable Michigan for all Michiganders. ** __** ** ** __****
About the Host Partner: The Marquette County Planning Division has a robust and multi-faceted work program that includes community planning, emergency home repair programming, County Forest management, operation of county-owned recreation facilities, and recreation coordination. A Michigan Healthy Climate Fellow will help advance innovative community planning and development in Michigan's largest county by land area and the Upper Peninsula's most populous county. Fellows will gain hands-on experience working on high-impact projects—ranging from master planning and climate resilience to environmental justice programming at KI Sawyer—while engaging directly with residents, local governments, and regional partners. This placement offers a unique chance to contribute to meaningful change, build professional skills, and be mentored by a former MHC Fellow who now serves as a County Planner. ** _
