    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    SPECIALIZED PARALEGAL/LEGAL STRATEGIST:  Work directly with personal injury attorneys and their injured clients to help the clients obtain the best medical care possible within the parameters of the case economics.  At the same time, the applicant must monitor the case with the law firm to strategize and conform to all legal requirements needed to build a case and keep the attorney involved and informed on all treatment. 

    PAY RANGE $18 - $25 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

    EDUCATION:

    PARALEGAL DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT.  (Associate's Paralegal Degree or Bachelor’s Degree and law office experience working directly under and attorney for at least 5 years in any personal injury field (MVA, medical malpractice, catastrophic injury). 

    KNOWLEDGE AND BASIC SKILLS REQUIRED:

    STRONG WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS – Excellent command of the English language, including written and oral communication skills.  Spanish as a second language helpful, but not necessary. Must be comfortable with all forms of communication, including email, text, phone and oral presentations on legal and medical issues in personal injury cases. 

    CUSTOMER AND CORPORATE RELATIONS:  Able to relate to and communicate well with people of various economic and cultural backgrounds, including personal injury clients, attorneys, medical providers, CEO’s of corporations, co-workers, supervisors, etc. 

    LEGAL: Experience and understanding of legal evidence and courtroom procedure in Utah. Ability to research and adapt to legal procedure in other states. Some litigation experience up to and including mediation and trial is helpful in order to effectively analyze personal injury cases. 

    MOTIVATION AND CREATIVITY: Self-motivated and proactive in finding creative solutions as well as comfortable making case decisions without continual supervision.

    ORGANIZATIONAL AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Ability to organize and keep track of large amounts of data and records to effectively manage a high volume of cases.  Basic logic and reasoning abilities to identify the strengths and weaknesses of personal injury cases and present the attorney with the options available to treat the clients’ symptoms as well as provide value to the case.  Confidence in creating and presenting new ideas both in-house and with clients and attorneys.

    COMPUTER AND CLERICAL:  Knowledge of basic office protocols and procedures as well as experience with word processing systems, Excel spreadsheets and the ability to adapt to new computer software programs as needed to effectively manage a case load.

    TASKS

    • Analyze and monitor a large volume of personal injury cases based on prior and current and medical records, case documents and economic parameters of the case.  
    • Communicate with attorneys and clients daily to monitor client progress, assist and maintain appropriate medical treatment as needed and strategize all care according to the legal and economic needs of the case.
    • Arrange and facilitate all client medical care within the company network.
    • Organize, track and maintain electronic case files of all client bills and records and provide same to the law firm in a consistent, organized and timely manner.
    • Know and understand the company medical network and provide the attorney with all options available within the company network for the client’s treatment.
