Tig/Mig Welder/Fabricator
We have partnered with a leading manufacturer in the south metro for welder/fabricator to join their team on a contract to hire assignment. Years of experience as a leading designer, manufacturer and innovator in the industry has given them a competitive edge in providing state-of-the-art, reliable, cost-effective load-moving solutions. It involves mostly welding but also requires some metal fabrication on a mill, iron worker, lathe, drill presses and band saw. 85% of the projects you will work on will not be mass volume production but are custom designed for the customer providing both a non-repetitive and exciting environment! With customers like Boeing, Caterpillar, John Deere, Merck, USAF, 3M, and GM to name a few, there is no shortage of new and exciting projects to work on!
Job Responsibilities:
Work with mild steel (95% of the time)
Ability to use a band saw, drill press and mill to cut metal subcomponents.
Uses hand tools such as a grinder, hammer drill, mag drill.
Conducts quality control checks throughout the assembly process
Cleans and maintains the work area
Resolves problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources as necessary
Maintains inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, communicating orders to purchasing and verifying incoming inventory
Work Hours:
Hours 7 am to 3 pm M-F, flexible hours after 3 to 6 months
Assembler Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to Tig and Mig weld
Ability to read engineering drafts
Ability use a tape measure
Ability to drive a forklift
Mechanical and technical aptitude
Physical stamina and strength
Focus on quality control
Dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp and manipulate tooling.
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
3 years plus TIG experience
