    WORK LOCATION : Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Newport, RI Fully onsite NOT remote

    MIKEL is a growing company providing undersea warfare solutions to the U.S. Navy and other organizations from government and industry. MIKEL is seeking a talented Software Engineer to support Navy programs in the area of undersea vehicle algorithms for guidance, control, tracking and signal processing. The successful applicant will join a diverse team that supports the Navy’s only real-time hardware in the loop (HIL) modeling and simulation facility providing full life cycle support to torpedo development and test programs. The successful candidate will help to maintain and extend the Navy’s superiority in undersea warfare operations. Candidates must communicate well and thrive in a team/collaborative environment.

    Responsibilities

    MIKEL is seeking a Software Engineer to support the following:

    • Develop, test and evaluate algorithms based on performance in a HIL environment
    • Support evaluation of new and proposed algorithms against operating requirements
    • Document and track algorithm configurations, revisions, and trouble reports
    • Support migration of legacy algorithms to new hardware and software architectures
    • Participate in an established Agile development process

    Required Experience & Skills

    • BS Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related field
    • 3 to 5 years’ experience in algorithm development and/or evaluation
    • Proficient in Matlab, Jira, Bitbucket, and related development tools
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in team environment

    Desirable Experience & Skills:

    • MS degree in a relevant STEM field
    • Programming Languages: C/C++
    • Prior engineering experience in real time simulation, guidance and control

    Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance or higher is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
