    Position Summary: The Buyer is a key role within the procurement and supply chain department of a company. This position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required for the organization's operations. The Buyer plays a crucial role in maintaining a reliable and cost-effective supply chain, ensuring that the company has access to the necessary materials, products, and services to meet its business needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Sourcing and Supplier Management: * Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and conduct supplier assessments. * Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements. * Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance and addressing any issues that arise.
    2. Purchase Order Management: * Create, review, and manage purchase orders to ensure accurate and timely procurement of goods and services. * Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement requirements and specifications. * Maintain records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and correspondence.
    3. Market Research and Analysis: * Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and supplier landscape changes. * Analyze market conditions to make informed decisions about sourcing strategies and supplier selections.
    4. Cost Management: * Develop cost-effective sourcing strategies to optimize procurement expenditures. * Participate in cost analysis and cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
    5. Supplier Collaboration: * Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any delivery or quality issues. * Collaborate with suppliers to explore opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
    6. Inventory Control: * Coordinate with inventory and demand planning teams to align procurement activities with inventory needs. * Ensure that procurement activities are aligned with inventory turnover goals and minimize excess stock.
    7. Compliance and Documentation: * Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. * Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and related documentation.
    8. Risk Management: * Identify potential supply chain risks and develop strategies to mitigate disruptions. * Stay alert to geopolitical, economic, and other external factors that could impact the supply chain.
    9. Communication and Reporting: * Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, finance, and quality assurance. * Provide regular updates on procurement activities, supplier performance, and market trends.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles.
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Familiarity with procurement software and tools, as well as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate data, trends, and market conditions.
    • Knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier management, and industry standards.

    Mil Spec, Inc was founded in 1987 with the ambitious goal of obtaining U.S. Navy certification of our vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) sealed insulation system. In 1988 we received certification by passing a most rigorous group of tests and documentation retention procedures, and joined eight other qualified manufacturers holding that certification. Today, we are one of only four electric motor manufacturers retaining the Navy approval.
    We are a totally custom oriented company built on favorable pricing, short and reliable lead-times, quality products, clear information and comfortable relationships.
    We have manufactured over 38,000 electric motors for U.S. Navy application including 20,000 with the VPI sealed insulation system. These motors have passed Hi-Impact shock per MIL-S-901 in customer's applications or as stand-alone motors.

    Mil Spec, Inc has completed qualification on electric motors as small as 1/15 horsepower, in both sealed and non-sealed applications. Previous applications vary from fans, pumps and cooling coils, to control valves, including low noise applications.
