    Job Description

    Our client manufactures, assembles, and supports the design of mission critical electronic solutions and systems for current and future industry needs.  We have an exciting opportunity for an accounting manager.

     

    This position is responsible for the general accounting activities of the business.  This includes maintaining the accountings systems, ensuring the proper accounting, and recording of company results, providing financial statements, analysis, and other key management reports.  Our finance group works as a team, but a degree of creativity and independence is required.      

     

    AREAS OF EMPHASIS

    • General Accounting.
      • Facilitate the closing process.  Our target is a three-day close.  We accomplish this through advanced planning and strong coordination.  The accounting manager will be the leader, facilitator, on on-going innovator of this continuous process.
      • Lead the reconciliation process.  Our balance sheet is our financial foundation.  The accounting manager facilitates, contributes, and improves the account reconciliation process.  We ensure reviews are both quantitative and qualitative through a mix of preparation by subject matter experts and review by business unit controllers.
      • Manage the compilation tools and processes for the multiple (currently 3) companies.
      • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable staff and results (team of 2).
      • Manage other general accounting activities as required (fixed assets, inventory, etc.)
    • Payroll Analysis.
      • Work with our Human Resources team to ensure correct postings of weekly payrolls.
      • Perform variance analysis of actual costs vs. forecasted costs.  Address discrepancies.
    • Audit and Tax Support.
      • Primary contact for audit and tax engagements.

     GENERAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITY/SCOPE:

    • Compiles and analyzes financial data
    • Creates weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual reports and ensures accuracy of the process
    • Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior management
    • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job but explores alternatives when established processes are insufficient
    • Is expected to operate with minimal supervision on a routine basis

     QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

    • Professional finance experience
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred 
    • Requires creativity and significant analytical ability
    • Requires high degree of personal accountability and fiduciary perspective
    • Requires good written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, etc.)

    EDUCATION:

    • Minimum education level of bachelor’s degree
    • 5+ years relevant experience

    PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills

    RATE/SALARY:
