    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Missing Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Organizer with support of their assigned supervisor and/or Executive Director will lead MN350’s MMIR work to bold vision to expand and deepen a multiracial movement across Minnesota that’s working to stop MMIR and raise legal and community awareness. Specific responsibilities include: - Serve as a legal advocate for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and relatives. - Seek grant funding to support MMIR work. - Advocate for MMIR and family members who lost relatives to domestic and other violence. - Coach, mentor and provide leadership to staff, key volunteers, campaigns, and teams about MMIR. Provide resources to families such as shelter, housing, food etc.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES - Advocate for parents’ who had children removed by the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) social services, - Organize gatherings to bring awareness to the damages affecting Native communities around pipelines and mining including increased sexual assaults, domestic violence, MMIR, and the impacts on the Native community when environment is under attack and treaty rights are violated. - Develop a MN350 Rapid Response Deployment team to support urgent MMIR work. - Work in close collaboration with the BIPOC Caucus and other leadership bodies to provide leadership and mentorship and to support their work. Other duties as assigned.

    MN350 Action is a 501©(4) advocacy nonprofit that is building a bold, diverse mass movement for climate justice by building public support and equipping supporters to effect change at the local, municipal, and state levels. MN350 Action is a sister organization to MN350 that shares staff, offices, and volunteers. MN350 and MN350 Action work collaboratively with numerous coalition partners to build a movement for climate justice and racial justice.

    MN350 is a state affiliate of 350.org, a global organization building a grassroots movement to stop the climate crisis and realize racial and climate justice for all. 350.org’s online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in more than 188 countries. The number “350” stands for the upper limit of carbon pollution in the atmosphere that is compatible with a livable climate.

    ** WHO YOU ARE**

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of organizing
    • Experience working with MMIR.
    • Experience work in a non-profit or Tribal setting with experience in organizing around Indigenous Rights issues.

    *This position is salaried with a salary ranging from $49,500 to $52,500. Benefits include medical, dental as well as 401(k) retirement plan, vacation, and sick time as well as professional development. Hybrid.
