  • Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can retain knowledge and training. The candidate should also demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with their hands, work with customers, and handle administrative tasks.

    Qualifying candidates must display technical/mechanical skills and would be able to quickly diagnose / repair devices. The candidate must be able to think on their feet to solve problems and solutions in a timely matter. Also, previous experience working on wheelchairs, scooters, and power wheelchairs is preferred, However, we will train the right mechanically inclined candidate.

    Hourly pay dependent on experience. Responsibilities / Tasks:

    • Build and repair new wheelchairs/scooters
    • Assembles seating and mobility equipment in a timely manner; makes necessary equipment modifications to prepare goods for delivery to the patient; includes custom seating & sizing to meet patient needs
    • Trains clients on safe use of company equipment
    • Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on clients’ devices (scooters, wheelchairs, power chairs, other mobility devices, etc.)
    • Travel to customers house for installs, evaluations, and repairs;
    • Responds to service calls and makes repairs as needed in the office and in the field
    • Assists in the timely completion of work orders, which may involve but is not limited to, research of components, calculation and extension of equipment price and preparation of quotes for patients, referral sources and insurance companies.
    • Obtains estimates for repairs.
    • Insures manager is informed of needed repairs and maintenance
    • Clean equipment

    Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

    • Power Wheelchair Technician preferred; or experience in electrical, electrical motor and light mechanic experience.
    • Experience making and/or assembling assigned assistive technology equipment; including measurements, model modifications, and layout under the guidance of and in consultation with certified Assistive Technology Professional.
    • 1-2 years of wheelchair repair strongly preferred
    • If no wheelchair experience must be proficient with hand tools.
    • Customer Service experience and effective communication skills
    • Effective organizational skills
    • Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse, multi-cultural environment
    • Independent problem solver
