    Position Summary
    The Application Engineer is an integral part of our sales team, providing technical assistance and support to both internal and external customers. The Application Engineer will support McWane Plant & Industrial's technical leadership initiative by providing application and specification support, reviewing specifications and drawing packages, and providing technical quotations in support of our customer growth strategy. The successful candidate will need to have strong communication skills, and the ability to work across the organization to ensure our organization is aligned with the service and technical needs of our customers.

    In this role, you will:

    • Qualify incoming leads and collaborate with sales.
    • Utilize online project tracking tools such as Dodge to identify opportunities and provide take-off and quote assistance to our sales organization.
    • Respond to requests for quotes, build quote packages, and send quotes to customers in a timely manner.
    • Track and follow up on quotations and projects to secure orders.
    • Assist sales, sales representatives, and customers with technical information, including, but not limited to product information, submittals, and installation and operating manuals.
    • Work with internal teammates such as product management, engineering, and operations to establish pricing and required technical specifications for special application products, actuated valves, and accessories.
    • Interpret specifications and drawings to determine bills of material.
    • Work with sales and/or engineers to make recommendations, modifications, or improvements to specifications.
    • Support customers with application installations, product selection, and troubleshooting.
    • Provide support as needed to resolve customer complaints, warranty claims, and issues including all paperwork and follow-up to ensure the process is completed.
    • Work closely with inside sales to ensure we have all the required information to process the order correctly.
    • Provide customer feedback to product management and engineering in support of our continuous improvement and new product development strategy.

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
    • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think on your feet to field technical questions.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
    • Superior organizational skills.
    • Ability to travel up to 20%

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 years’ experience in a technical sales or application engineering position.
    • Experience in the waterworks and/or industrial markets
    • Valve application engineering experience, preferably in the AWWA market.
    • Experience reviewing and suggesting modifications to specifications.
    • Experience creating drawings with CAD and / or SolidWorks.
