  • Responsibilities

    COLSA is seeking an experienced Network Engineer that will provide support to the 46 Test Squadron, Datalinks Test Lab at Eglin AFB.  This support includes the following:

     

    • Serves as an experienced network engineer for the Datalinks Test Lab supporting Link 16 datalinks test events through the development and implementation of tactical datalinks network environments.
    • Installs, configures, and maintains Cisco campus routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Identity Services Engine, and fiber/copper cable infrastructures.
    • Implements DISA STIGs, securing network devices to meet DoD cybersecurity standards.
    • Identifies, documents, and enforces industry best practices and Department of Defense standards.
    • Monitors and optimizes network performance; monitors network usage and security.
    • Analyzes current network capability and future requirements to propose network optimization and new network solutions; deploys network upgrades where applicable.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves network related problems and outages.
    • Installs computer networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other data communications systems.
    • Performs other related functions as required to advise and assist the customer in the successful accomplishment of test support and test execution.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COMBINATIONS IS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 3 years of technical experience is required -OR- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline and 7 years of technical experience -OR- HS Diploma or Equivalent and 9 years technical experience.

    • Previous experience in network engineering, hands on knowledge working with Cisco routers, switches, VLANs, and the installation of CAT-5/6 and fiber optic cable.
    • Proven network engineering experience with the ability to perform with little supervision.
    • Experience hardening network systems using current DISA STIGs.
    • Active Secret clearance.
    • DoD Information Assurance, 8570 IAT Level II, Security+ or better required.
    • Able to travel 10% of the time to remote test locations both CONUS and OCONUS.
    • Must possess effective oral and written communications skills, with the ability to function successfully in a team environment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Knowledge and experience working with virtualized networks—VMWare a plus.
    • Experience working with Cisco Identity Services Engine.
    • An active Cisco CCNP certification is highly desirable.
    • Working knowledge of Network Time Protocol systems.

    5. Ability to wear respirators in environments that may expose you to chemicals, fumes, etc.

    6. Ability to maintain workloads that may include travel to a variety of states for days or weeks, and daily timeframes that could exceed the typical 8-hour shift.
