    As the global outbreak of COVID-19 continues to unfold, Latham has taken precautions to help protect our people, clients, and the communities where we live and work. This includes a temporary shift to remote working for the majority of our lawyers and staff. The Global Learning and Development Specialist will likely start remotely while the firm continues to evaluate the situation.

     

    The Global Learning and Development Specialist will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance.     As a Global Learning and Development Specialist at Latham, you will support all aspects of the learning and development department’s responsibilities; primarily design, development, and delivery of training content and materials. You will also responsible for designing and analyzing needs assessments and course evaluations, and facilitating sessions in synchronous and asynchronous method, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

     

    • Designing and developing new training courses, as well as reviewing and/or updating current courses across the departments.
    • Developing and preparing training materials that include leader’s guide, participant workbooks, and visual aids such as PowerPoint presentations.
    • Assisting in identifying training needs / issues, and providing innovative training solutions for the Firm.
    • Measuring transfer of learning and training impact by creating and implementing multi-level evaluations.
    • Facilitating HR related classroom courses to a diverse population.
    • Contributing to the identification and creation process of new learning opportunities outside the classroom, such as using multi-media devices, e-learning, etc. 
    • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers.

     

    As a Global Learning and Development Specialist, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Global Learning and Development Specialist must have outstanding project management skills demonstrated across multiple locations, cultures, and matrixed organizations, strong knowledge of and proven proficiency in adult learning, and proven ability to create high level training courses that incorporate experiential learning activities to meet the needs and culture of the audience. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in facilitating professional training programs, and comprehensive understanding of Human Resources and learning and how it relates to policies, job descriptions, workforce analytics, retention, and culture. The Specialist must have the ability to teach or instruct individuals and groups and measure transfer of learning, the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills in all media, strong organizational and presentation skills, strong analytical skills with minimal supervision needed, and outstanding organizational and time management skills needed to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Candidates should have excellent language skills including reading, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary, and well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.

     

    A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Instructional Design, or a related field is preferred. A Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field also strongly preferred.

     

    A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in learning and development is required. Experience managing global projects within a matrixed environment is desired. Experience designing and facilitating virtual learning is required. Experience within a professional services environment is desired.
