    As the SR. NETWORK ENGINEER, you will  support provision, sustainment and management of the entire range of Information Technology (IT) services, support, and infrastructure necessary for Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) to meet its mission and operational objectives.

    JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Our Sr. Network Engineer will lead our team’s efforts to plan, design, engineer, install, perform configuration management, document, maintain, and monitor Teleconferencing, network communication devices, and associated elements that support core network functions and services. 
    • Candidates should be familiar with Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), Wi-Fi and secure remote access (VPN) on Microsoft Linux environments, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) firewalls, Cisco Access Control Server (ACS), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco SourceFire Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Zebra Technologies’ AirDefense Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention System. 
    • Candidates should also be able to lead projects that support planning, design, engineering, installation, configuration management, documentation, and maintenance of network infrastructure extensions or modifications to include the network cable plant.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Should possess an associate’s degree or higher in software engineering, information technology, cybersecurity or computer science from an accredited college or university.
    • Shall possess at least 10 years of networking experience, three of which shall include experience with Cisco products in an Ethernet environment. Personnel shall demonstrate the following:
    • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, hardware and software products, including Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) firewalls, and COMSEC equipment;
    • Strong organizational, communication, and managerial skills through relevant work experience;
    • Ability to initiate and manage a project from inception to completion through examples of projects completed including defining size, scope and complexity through various factors such as cost vs budget, impact on requiring agency, time required vs deadline; and
    • Ability to troubleshoot problems, conduct research, and to learn and propose new technology solutions through historical examples from the person’s experience.

    • CISA Certificate
    • GCED Certificate
    • GCIH Certificate

     

    TRAVEL:

    • Occasional travel may be required to support the NSWCCD mission; predominantly to NSWCCD detachments, which currently include San Diego, CA; Silverdale, WA; Bayview, ID; Memphis, TN; Port Canaveral, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Little Creek, VA; and Perryville, MD
