    WHO YOU ARE

    As a part-time instructor in the Allied Health Department, you provide instruction in all levels of the phlebotomy.  You work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

    You serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels. You may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities to meet the needs of the College.

    This is a part-time, temporary position with no benefits except Colorado State retirement, PERA.

    ALL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL REMAIN IN A TALENT POOL FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATION.

    Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate. Completed application package includes: A RESUME; A LETTER OF INTEREST; A COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS; A ONE PAGE STATEMENT OF YOUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY; AND A LIST OF COURSES AND THE SEMESTERS YOU HAVE TAUGHT.

    PRIMARY DUTIES

    • Teaches courses consistent with CCCNS template and appropriate course content guide, catalog description, at the scheduled time and place and meets required contact hours.
    • Assist in instruction as needed under the supervision of the primary instructor or program director for laboratory courses, including but not limited to lab preparation, student skills assessment and open laboratory sessions.
    • Turns in official grade book (a legal, permanent record) to department at the end of each semester if they are primary instructor.
    • Submits syllabus to department by the end of the first week of class and provides each student with a syllabus that complies with FRCC/department syllabus guidelines by the end of the first week including all course requirements, course evaluation procedures, attendance requirements, make-up examination policy, and related course procedures if they are assigned primary instructor.
    • Learns and uses college software for final reporting, grades, student roster and attendance.
    • Uses appropriate resources, technology, and pedagogy in the delivery of courses.
    • Creates an effective learning environment for students.
    • Completing any mandatory campus trainings.
    • Maintain professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities, i.e., FERPA, copyrights, etc.
    • Communicates with the Program Director regularly.
    • If assisting as secondary instructor communicates with primary instructor regularly.
    • Attend program/campus meetings.
    • Must maintain lab equipment and stock inventory. Report inventory needs to Program Director.
    • Run QA on lab Equipment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Must be able to conduct EVENING COURSES THAT TYPICALLY RUN FROM 05:00 P.M.-09:30 P.M.
    • Must be able to teach at the Brighton Center and Westminster Campus

    Required Skills Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Hold ASCP-BOC or ASCP-BOC certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or hold certification in phlebotomy from an applicable recognized certification agency.

    • Able to provide documentation of 4,000 hours of occupational experience within last 5 years.
