MRC Data is a provider of music sales data. Established by Mike Fine and Mike Shalett in 1991, data is collected weekly and made available every Sunday and every Monday to subscribers, which include record companies, publishing firms, music retailers, independent promoters, film and TV companies, and artist managers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

MRC Data is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join the MRC Data Music team. MRC Data is the industry leader in measurement and analytics of key happenings within the Music industry. This role will be responsible for leading the Design & Development of key Analytics and Reporting Applications in this space. Looking for someone who is at the core a strong Developer, with expertise in developing enterprise grade Data Analytics and Cloud deployments. Ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about design and development and can lead and mentor a team of Developers.

This position will be working with a team responsible for building next generation systems. The Senior Software developer will be a well-rounded technology professional who can Architect, Design and Develop complex enterprise grade systems. Candidates should have exposure and experience in a wide range of technologies including Java, Cloud deployments (AWS, Azure), Big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark), Microservices and other associated technologies.

NOTE: Remote role with preferred candidates residing in Tampa, NYC, or Los Angeles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and Development of Enterprise grade Data Analytics and Web Applications.
• Day-to-day work will include 70-75% Development and 25-30% Design, Reviews, mentoring and other related activities
• Provide technical leadership to project activities to ensure solutions are being implemented per approved design.
• Responsible for mentoring and grooming other team members on the application of new development methodologies.
• Maintain and enforce common conventions, standards, and technologies across the enterprise.
• Establish strong relationships with key leaders from other teams and demonstrate credibility, empathy and expertise on business and technical issues.
• Provide clear requirements and development plans to the onsite and offshore teams.
• Translate business goals into appropriate strategies and technical requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Overall 6+ years of Technology experience including Designing and Developing robust cloud based systems
• Experience with Hadoop or other Distributed file systems as well as Distributed computing with Spark on Scala/Java/Python
• 4+ years of experience developing API enabled Web applications using Java, HTML5, Javascript and SQL.
• Understanding/Implementation experience of Caching Frameworks - Redis, Hazelcast, Ignite, etc.
• Strong DevOps background and hands-on experience on cloud deployments.
• Ability to track, recommend, and implement resolutions to issues
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, train, inspire, and motivate team to accomplish objectives
• Ability to build good relationships with peers, business partners, and clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

DESIRED SKILLS:

• A strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, Serverless computing, Data Lake and API Frameworks
• Experience in Javascript frameworks (Angular, GXT/GWT, ExtJS or other HTML5/Javascript frameworks)
• Mobile Development experience
