JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist manages daily functions of the Corporate Human Resources (HR) department including workers' compensation, unemployment, FMLA and other leaves, and enforcing company policies and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs routine tasks required to assist, administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to hiring, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
- Serves as a member of HR Team who responds to applicants, employees, and leaders with employment questions. Recommends and implements changes in methods or procedures relating to increasing efficiency of HR functions.
- Participates in research and development of HR policies and ensures compliance with all State and Federal legislation.
- Assists in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of the team member handbook.
- Maintains HR information system records, through ADP, and compiles reports from the database.
- Maintains accurate and current information in personnel files. Completes requests for income and employment verification as needed.
- Performs general administrative tasks which may include items such as organizing, maintaining, filing, updating files and records, typing correspondence, verifying accuracy and processing forms, and creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Provides back up support to leader and coworkers.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Two to four years' experience working in a human resources department or similar equivalent department required. Previous experience working with people with developmental and mental disabilities, their families, and their caretakers is helpful.
- Experience with Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, FMLA administration, and ADP or similar HRIS system preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and local laws surrounding the field of human resources.
- Complies with federal and state employment laws.
- Proficiency in computer based office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
- Demonstrates wide-ranging interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform required record keeping.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Has previous knowledge of disability services.
- Demonstrates the ability to make good independent judgment and decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends.
- Holds a valid Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check and physical exam to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
Starting Pay: $46,000 per year
Standard Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
