  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Provides engaging, fun, and effective instruction that helps build a health and wellness foundation for students.
    • Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of games, rhythms and fundamentals of body movement.
    • Discovers and cultivates the talents of students in physical achievement.
    • Develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports.
    • Provides appropriate safety instruction, and makes safety checks on equipment and gym/field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
    • Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness using the Oregon Core Standards.
    • Demonstrates motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching all learners.
    • Demonstrates the ability to create a student-centered classroom.
    • Facilitates student's physical, cognitive and social and emotional learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels.
    • Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
    • Implements Oregon Core Standards with rigor, purpose, and planning.
    • Provides maximum participation for all students; differentiates learning as needed to ensure all students experience success.
    • Develops engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materials.
    • Provides ongoing formative feedback to students.
    • Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records to include report cards, attendance records, and other recordkeeping activities.
    • Communicates with parents, school counselors and administrators on student progress.
    • Plans and supervises class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
    • Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree in a related field

    • A current Oregon teaching license with applicable endorsement (preferred)

    • Experience teaching or coaching

    Start date: January 26, 2026

    Salary: $38000-66009 for 1FTE
