    Postdoctoral Fellow

    Neuronal Death in Neurodegenerative Disease

     

    We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral fellow with electrophysiology and/or protein biochemistry background to join the lab of Juan Du at Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, MI.

     

    The Du laboratory is interested in understanding how neuronal ion channel receptors are involved in neuron death in neurodegenerative diseases by studying their structure and function using single-particle cryo-EM, electrophysiology, mouse model and other function approaches (see https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0558-4/, https://elifesciences.org/articles/36852, https://www.nature.com/articles/nature24674.).

     

    The cryo-EM facility at VARI hosts the state of the art electron microscopes (Titan Krios, Talos Arctica) equipped with K2 and Falcon3 detectors. The K2 detector will be upgraded to K3 this year.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • 5+ years of mid-level sales experience with regional responsibilities; rep agency management experience preferred
    • Multiple-channel commercial sales experience; HVAC industry experience preferred
    • Intermediate level of financial and business acumen, with the ability to translate corporate growth goals into regional sales strategies
    • Excellent verbal, written, and public presentation skills
    • Proficient in business tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    Ability to travel 50% required; candidate will live and work in the Central Territory of the US
