    Our client is looking for a SBA Business Development Officer to be based in the Greater Chicago area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for business development SBA 7a loans and can produce $6+ million per year in closed SBA 7a loans.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Works independently to develop and solicit new business from present and prospective clients
    • Conducts calls on prospects and external referral sources to assure service requirements are met and new business opportunities are realized
    • Maintains a continual dialogue and close working relationships with other bank officers, member of the bar, certified public and municipal accountants, financial advisors, underwriters and governmental officials
    • Maintains established market presence and extensive network of outside referral sources of new business
    • Ensures that all work is within compliance with SBA guidelines
    • Understands how to structure the most complex SBA deals
    • Understands how to underwrite new credits
    • Communicates credit decisions to prospects and customers as directed and negotiates specific terms and conditions for loans within parameters defined by credit decisions
    • Ensures Customers implement loan covenants, maintains current Customer risk ratings and makes appropriate comments in Customer credit files to ensure information remains current

    The SBA Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying, marketing, and selling SBA Products to the small business marketplace.

    Qualifications:

    • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years related experience
    • Strong sales experience preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial banking practices, including credit analysis
    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
    • Sound collaborative skills to build and maintain dedicated involvement with all levels of staff and vendors
    • Attentive to client relationship development
    • Extraordinary prospecting skills
    • Solid understanding of the current SBA SOP
